Williams was a two-sport athlete at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he participated in football and track. Had 103 tackles and 10.5 sacks as a senior, helping Mainland reach the FHSAA 6A state semifinals, where it lost to Miami Central, 7-17. The loss was reversed in August 2012 when Miami Central forfeited its entire season due to a transfer violation.
