Jo Ling Kent is an American journalist who currently works as a correspondent for NBC News. Previously, Kent worked as a reporter for Fox Business Network, ABC and CNN. He has covered notable stories since joining NBC News in 2016.
Jo Ling attended Hopkins High School and later enrolled at Rice University. He also holds degrees in international affairs from both the London School of Economics and Perking University. Kent was also a Fulbright Fellow at Peking University School of Law.
After graduating from college in 2008, Jo Ling worked as a translator and writer for ABC News in Beijing. He would then return to Beijing to work for CNN as a co-producer after graduating from the London School of Economics.
In 2012, Kent joined NBC’s Connecticut affiliate WVIT as a reporter and blogger. There she covered the 2012 presidential election extensively as a built-in reporter and her team won a Peabody Awad to cover the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. A year later, he joined the Fox Business Network as a technology reporter.
Since 2016, Jo Ling has been a correspondent for NBC News. In June 2020, he was struck by a flash of a Seattle Police Department flash grenade while on the field reporting on George Floyd’s demonstrations in Seattle, Washington.
