Ed Bloodsworth is an American meteorologist who currently works at the WRKG as a Chief Meteorologist. In addition, it airs live daily at 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Before joining his current station, he worked as a meteorologist at various stations. Some of the stations include; WFLA, KTKA and WJBF.
After graduating from high school, Bloodsworth decided to enroll at Florida State University in Tallahassee, USA, where he graduated with a degree in meteorology. After graduating with a degree in meteorology from Florida State University, he moved to KTKA Topeka, KS, one of the most dynamic weather makers in the country. While in Kansas, he improved his forecasting skills by covering heat waves, blizzards and strong weather.
In addition, he was commissioned to lead the KTKA storm tracking operations that involved organizing and navigating several tracking teams in Northeast Kansas. From there, head south to the WJBF in Augusta, GA. While here, it covered the historic Georgia / South Carolina ice storm of 2014 and the historic rains from Hurricane Joaquin in 2015.
His most recent tenure in Tampa, Florida includes Hurricane Matthew in 2016, Hurricane Irma in 2017 and Hurricane Michael in 2018. Bloodsworth is an active member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Meteorological Society. Holds a Certified Emission Meteorologist (CBM) from AMS. In his free time, he enjoys exploring local museums, hiking and nature trails. He is also an avid bowler.
