Ikechukwu Eric Ahiauzu (Ric Hassani) is a well-known Nigerian singer, songwriter and musician. His contemporaries include Timi Dakolo, Chike and Dare Art-Aade. Eric rose to fame after the release of his song The African Gentleman, for which he earned two Grammy nominations. Before that, he worked with famous musicians like Olamide, Falz, Chike, Nasiru, Frankie Walter, Jeff Akoh, DBYZ and others.

Hassani grew up in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown before going on to study Economics at Covenant University. He also holds a master’s degree in energy economics from the University of Surrey in the UK. Rick started his professional career in 2013 singing and playing piano. He was given the name Hassani after appearing on a TV show. In addition, he was motivated to continue singing by Justin Bieber, Sam Smith and Chris Brown.
