Meghan Markle and Prince Harry set to receive prestigious award from human rights organization this year

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to receive a prestigious award from a human rights organization, however, a historian has slammed their nomination as ‘absurd’.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are up for the 2022 Ripple of Hope Award, given by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization, for their work with their own nonprofit Archewell Foundation’s work on mental health and racial justice.

However, Kennedy historian Professor David Nasaw, who wrote the Pulitzer Prize-nominated book The Patriarch about President Kennedy’s father, has sounded off on Prince Harry and Meghan’s nomination.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Nasaw said: ‘I find this somewhere between sublimely ridiculous and patently ridiculous. It’s absurd.”

“If you look at people who have received the Robert Kennedy award in the past – Bill and Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Bishop Desmond Tutu – and then you have to ask what Harry and Meghan are doing here? He continued.

Nasaw added, “In the name of God, what did they do to deserve this? What percentage of Harry and Meghan’s wealth goes to worthwhile causes? »
