At Louisiana Tech Sneed converted to cornerback and in his true freshman season saw playing time, highlighted in the Conference USA Championship Game with a punt return against Western Kentucky. During his sophomore season, L'Jarius started about half the games at Corner before moving into a permanent starting role in his junior season. Before his senior season, L'Jarius moved to free safety and after the season earned second team all-C-USA honors. Additionally, L'Jarius participated in the 2020 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
In the fourth round with the 138th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs. During recruiting training camp, the Chiefs moved him back to cornerback. He recorded his first career interception in a 34–20 win in his professional debut against the Houston Texans in Week 1.
On September 30, he was placed on injured reserve after breaking his collarbone in the Chiefs' Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens. On November 21, 2020, L'Jarius was activated. During the 32–29 win, he recorded his first career sack in Week 15 against the New Orleans Saints.
He recorded a sack in the Chiefs' 22–17 victory in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Cleveland Browns. In the Chiefs' 38–24 victory, Sneed recorded one sack in the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills.
