On May 29, a musical prodigy was born in Deogarh, Odisha. He’s been nominated L. Nitesh Kumar . Music was in his blood: rich and torrential which impregnated him from his earliest childhood. In fact, he was introduced to music by his mother who was also a classical music singer. He loved to sing bhajans and kirtans. He started his career singing in satsang. With this family influence, he began to learn Hindustani classical music from Shri Rajendra Behera ji. he has a degree in physics but throughout this his classical music lessons have not been relegated to the background. He was trained by Pandit Devendra Narayan Satpathy in Bhubaneswar and Sri Anol Chatterjee in Kolkata. At that time, he was so deeply absorbed in music that he also became an admirer and disciple of well-known maestros Mehdi Hassan, Jagjit Singh, Ghulam Ali, Mohammed Rafi and Talat Mehmood, etc. Above all, he was deeply impressed by Padma shri Anup Jalota ji and Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia ji. The divine singing of Sri Anup Jalota ji’s bhajans was a turning point in his life. Instead of completing his graduate degree in industrial safety engineering, he chose music as his career.

He then realized that Guru Shishya tradition was the best to learn and master any art, especially music, so he became a disciple of Anup Jalota ji. Below Anup Jalota tutelage of ji L.Nitesh Kumar has learned all the nuances and fineness of music: this is why he is sometimes called a tape recorder disciple of Anup Jalota ji. All this while he was making a name for himself that he did not achieve with the humility worthy of a great artist. He considered himself lucky to be in the company of his idols. Now he himself had become a singer par excellence. L Nitesh Kumar wants to reach every heart, soul and mind with his music. He says “To reach God, one must immerse oneself in music, especially devotional music which transports us to another celestial world: Above everyday life, music brings a person into the presence of sublime power”. To decimate the power of music, he performed in over 1000 stage shows. He masters many musical instruments like the tabla, the harmonium, the flute, the piano, etc.
