On weekday nights, Horton embraces sports coverage for KLTA 5 News at 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., as well as the No. 1 of the “Sports Final” which aired at 10:45 p.m. of America’s largest sports networks as a host, anchor, reporter and play-by-play announcer. Over the past 22 years, Horton has hosted several NFL Network TV shows, including “NFL Total Access,” “Point After,” “College Football Now,” and “Road to the Draft.”
He spent the past five years on KCAL-TV in Los Angeles, where he was the main reporter for Channel 9 coverage of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team and anchored “Sports Central”. One of his true passions is to tell stories and while at KCAL, Horton received an Emmy to cover the Special Olympics.
After Syracuse, Horton began his professional career as a WHBC-AM radio station in Canton, Ohio. He traveled to Greensboro, NC, six months later to host Black College Sports Today and Winston-Salem, NC WXII-TV, where he covered football and basketball in Wake Forest, Duke, UNC and NC State, as well as the NASCAR Circuit. Horton packed up his belongings and moved to the Midwest to anchor the weekend sports for WLWT-TV, NBC’s Cincinnati partner, after two years in North Carolina. He then went to Fox WFLD-TV subsidiary Chicago, where he hosted all the Chicago Bears programming and covered Michael Jordan’s return to the Bulls.
In September 1998, Horton relocated to Los Angeles and began working as a journalist for the Fox Sports Net’s Conference USA kit. As a play-by-play announcer for ESPN, he later started calling college and basketball games. He also worked as a reporter for CBS Sports and ran games for ABC Sports, NFL Network and Fox Sports Net for NFL Europe.
