Brian Wilkes has been the chief meteorologist for Fox 59 since joining the station in July 1995. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Science from Columbia University. After college, Wilkes completed a two-and-a-half year internship at WGN-9 (Chicago) under meteorologist Tom Skilling.
Brian’s interest in the weather began when he was in fourth grade. Growing up in south Chicago, he faced the 1979 riot that kept him out of school for two weeks. This ignited his love for the weather, which has grown to this day.
He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Meteorological Society. In August 1996, Brian received his Seal of Approval from the National Meteorological Association.
