Betsy Kling Biography
Betsy Kling is an American meteorologist who currently serves as the chief meteorologist and anchor of the 5 p.m. at the WKYC studios in The Land. He specialized in getting the northern Ohio forecast right while keeping it real. During her career, she has won many awards. Kling has won Emmy Awards as both Chief Meteorologist and 5 PM What's New Anchor on WKYC.

Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, attended and graduated from Copley High School. Later, she attended Bowling Green State University where he graduated with a degree in journalism and a minor in meteorology. Kling then completed the rest of the meteorology course at Mississippi State University.

After graduating in 1997, Kling served as the Weekend Weatherman at WKJG in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area for 3 years and 4 months. Later in August 2000, he joined WTLV/WJXX – TV in the Jacksonville, Florida area as the weekend meteorologist. He worked there for 2 years and 7 months before joining WKYC Studios.
Before returning home in 2003, he worked at different stations in different states. In 2008, Kling became Cleveland's first female chief meteorologist. Kling has also earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist accreditation from the American Meteorological Society. It has also received the seal of approval from the National Weather Association.
Speaking of her achievements, in 2018 3News tapped her to launch a multi-year initiative to encourage and advance girls and women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). They called it “Growing Curiosity: Girls In STEM.” This station quickly gained recognition for shining a spotlight on women in STEM careers. In January 2020, she teamed up with Jay Crawford to debut What's New. The newscast told a mix of personality and credibility. Jay and Kling guide viewers on-air and online through the day's news and the latest events.

Having joined the studios in March 2003, Betsy began as chief meteorologist for 21 years. Later, she became the anchor of the 4-5:30 p.m. of What's New & What's Now with Jay Crawford and Betsy Kling. The show aired on weekdays.
