Bob Turk Biography
Bob Turk is an American meteorologist and meteorologist currently serving at CBS 13. Turk serves at CBS preparing and executing daily weather forecasts for 6 newscasts and webcasts daily. Born and raised in Maryland, United States, Turk has been with WJZ in Baltimore, MD as chief meteorologist for over 45 years. He has been crowned Baltimore’s most respected weathercaster and received an Emmy Award with a silver circle for his longtime service at WJZ.
Bob received a BS in geography from what was then Towson State College and an MA in the same subject from Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s graduate school. She also taught elementary school in Baltimore City before attending graduate school.
Before Turk entered Towson State College in his hometown, he graduated from Towson State University with a B.S. Diploma in Geography. First, before his graduate studies, he taught elementary school in Baltimore. Bob attended Indiana University and earned his Masters in Geography from the University of Pennsylvania.
Turk was an assistant planner for Howard County, Md., where he was responsible for site planning plans prior to his career in broadcasting. He is still active in the neighborhood and potentially holds the record of any other reporter in Baltimore for “most neighborhood appearances made.” Bob is also one of the most sought after speakers at charity, political and other events.
The Baltimore native has served on the boards of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and the American Lung Association and is involved with the Foundation for the Study of Juvenile Diabetes.

From a small child as the sky was cloudy, there were some little boys who went to catch frogs. No Bob Turk, it rained. Turk built a rain well and a rainfall measurement system, according to his mother. It was “fun” gathering the information, he says, and he never knew it would be on the big screen.
Today, as Baltimore’s most respected weatherman, it’s always enjoyable and part of his regular routine that individual viewers rely on for his weather forecasts on WJZ during the weeknight newscasts.
As the first television station in Baltimore to have more advanced weather forecasting equipment, Turk helped WJZ’s weather team select the Doppler radar weather system known as First Warning Weather and put the station further on the map. First Warning Weather’s local Doppler radar helps the weather team track rain and thunderstorms from neighborhood to neighborhood.
Bob became known as the Sunshine Kid due to his long tenure at WNZ. In the 1970s, he joined the station and also won an Emmy Silver Circle Award for his longtime work at WJZ.
