Jennifer Lawrence on why she and Meryl Streep almost fell out on the set of Don’t Look Up

Jennifer Lawrence has opened up about the surprising reason she and Meryl Streep almost bumped into each other while filming the upcoming movie Don’t Look Up – and it’s all thanks to a pretty funny misunderstanding.

J Law and Meryl star side by side in the new Netflix movie, with Jennifer playing a low-level astronomer attempting to warn the world of a deadly asteroid heading for Earth, while Meryl stars as President Janie Orlean .

The film features a ton of other big names, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, and Ariana Grande, and it turns out the cast nearly offended Meryl on set.

Describing a *huge* misunderstanding, Jennifer explained how the cast “casually calls Meryl the goat”, aka the “greatest of all time”, in a new interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

Explaining how Meryl misunderstood the phrase, J Law added, “We were doing a photo shoot and I said something like ‘GOAT’ and Meryl sort of said, ‘It’s true . Just tell the old goat where to go.'”

“I was like, ‘Meryl, you know GOAT means greatest ever, right?’ And she was like, ‘Oh, no!'” Jennifer continued jokingly. “And we were like, ‘We haven’t called you a goat all this time!'”

However, it turns out everything was fine as Meryl (thankfully) wasn’t offended. Jen explained, “She was just like, ‘oh well, I guess you know, like an old goat.’
[She] really taken on the chin.”

Well, you learn something new every day, don’t you, Meryl?
