Scott Connell is an American meteorologist who currently works as a Chief Meteorologist at 5 On Your Side in St. Louis, Missouri and specializes in providing the most accurate St. Louis weather forecast. For 26 years, people in St. Louis have been waking up to his predictions. Fulfilling this role meant waking up every weekend at 12:30 p.m. In 2017, Scott switched to a more traditional sleep schedule and can be seen on 5 On Your Side over the weekend and in various newscasts throughout the week. However, he was promoted to Chief Meteorologist in July 2019.
Scott has always loved the weather since he was very young. He first caught the error of the weather in 1979 when a blizzard struck his hometown off the east coast of Maryland in almost two feet of snow with drifts of up to five feet. When he was in eighth grade, a new television station came to town and read in the newspaper that they needed a meteorologist. This made him wear a blue blazer, gray pants and a tie and go to the station. He was only 14 at the time, but asked to speak to the general manager.

He says, “I told him I wanted to do the weekend. I found myself sitting in the news director’s office explaining what I could do for them. “They must have had fun because he asked me to write a resume.” Scott still has the resume. Fortunately, the director created a niche for Scott, allowing him to come every week and investigate the high and low temperatures that gave him his first break on television.
He later graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. He also earned a master’s degree in Geosciences from Mississippi State University. While earning his degree, he worked part-time on television stations in New Bern and Raleigh, gaining excellent work experience. It took its first time on the air at NBC Station in Raleigh.
Most notably, he started at 5 On Your Side in 1991, working with Todays in St. Louis. Louis, Art Holliday and Jennifer Blome. He was nicknamed “Cubbie” because of his youthful appearance.
