Prince Harry Evokes Sympathy Over Alleged ‘Harsh’ Treatment from Late Queen

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were met with a cold reception from the royal family. It seems that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have always faced a frosty reception from the royal family. The late Queen Elizabeth's firm decision to reject Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's proposal for a “part-time royal role” has been criticized as being too harsh. In an interview with Times Radio, royal expert Jennie Bond expressed his belief that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were right to seek their privacy and financial independence.

Bond suggested that given the current health crisis within the royal family, it might have been beneficial for the couple to continue their royal duties. However, the longest-reigning British monarch's unshakable position did not allow him to make his own choices while remaining a member of the royal fold. Therefore, in 2020, the “Megxit” occurred when Prince Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step down as senior royals within the family.

Bond shared his views with the outlet, saying: “I always thought the late Queen and the palace were quite harsh when they set that red line of 'you can't be half in, half in out.'” She continued: “In a modern, evolving monarchy, there might have been a way to incorporate what they wanted, which was, as we thought, some privacy and not always being exposed .”

“The challenge with their royal role was that they wanted to be financially independent, which involved business ventures and potential conflicts of interest,” Bond explained. “However, I think the Palace was a little quick to say 'absolutely not'.”

It appears that the conflict between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's desires for a different approach to royal life and traditional expectations of the monarchy has contributed to strained relations with the royal family.
