Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, has reportedly planned a “secret visit” to her stepfather, King Charles, as tensions between the monarch and his son, Prince Harry, continue to mount.
It has been revealed that Meghan will not be attending Charles’ upcoming coronation ceremony and will instead be staying in California with her children.
Recent news that the new king has tried to stop Prince Harry from taking legal action against The Sun in a phone hacking scandal has further fueled tensions between Charles and Harry.
In an effort to end the feud before it escalates, Meghan would like to visit Charles in person.
According to New Idea magazine, Meghan plans to fly to the UK this week and stay at Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, where she lived with Harry. She will then meet Charles at Clarence House.
Although she previously supported Harry in his legal battle, Meghan reportedly fears this could escalate their feud with the Royal Family, which would ultimately impact her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. “She has a lot of things she wants to sort out with Charles, and thinks it would be best to do it in person,” a source close to Meghan told the outlet.
The insider also revealed that Meghan knew she had to return to the UK to settle some remaining matters at Frogmore Cottage, so the timing of the visit made sense.
The sudden change in Meghan’s attitude towards Charles has raised suspicions, with an insider saying ‘alarm bells are going off about the timing of this docile new Meghan’.
