Lydia Esparra is an American journalist currently working at WKYC 3News after rejoining the station on August 31, 2021. Before leaving the station and returning, she worked as the Weekend News Anchor and General Assignment Reporter from 2000 to 2008 .Inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2004 and in 2007, Lydia won an Emmy for Outstanding Weekend Newcast.
Born and raised in Youngstown, he attended The Ohio State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications. She became the first Latina news reporter at a Cleveland television station. In addition, he received the Robert G. McGruder Diversity in Media Distinguished Leadership Award from Kent State University.
Before returning to Ohio in 1997, she was Director of Community Affairs at WCIX-TV. Lydia moved to Georgia and worked at WFXL-TV in Albany as a reporter and anchor. She then became Bureau Chief at WTVM-TV in Columbus, Georgia. In addition, he conducted several interviews with former President Jimmy Carter. He also received the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association Media Award for his coverage of Georgia state prison reforms.
