According to The Sun on Sunday, King Charles responded to Prince Harry’s decision not to attend his coronation by saying he was “pleased” with Harry’s decision and “understanding” Meghan’s choice to stay with their children.
The newspaper reported that Harry decided to attend the coronation to show his support for his father, as they both express a “willingness and desire to mend” their relationship after Harry’s explosive revelations in his book and his Netflix series.
It will be the first time Harry has seen his family since the release of his memoir and documentary series, which caused a stir among the royal family.
The report also states that Harry had a conversation with Charles regarding the invitation, but did not speak to William. Although correspondence with Buckingham Palace took place prior to Harry’s acceptance, no significant discussion took place other than talks about the couple’s safety at Westminster Abbey.
