Susan Sarandon’s parents are Lenora Marie and Philip Leslie Tomlin, the latter being a former nightclub singer, television producer and advertising executive.

She was born as the eldest child of her parents, and has eight siblings: Terry, Timothy, Philip Leslie Jr., O’Brien, Bonnie Priscilla, Meredith, Melissa and Amanda.

On her maternal side, her ethnic heritage can be traced to Italy, specifically Tuscany and Sicily.

Sarandon’s father had ancestors from England, Ireland and Wales, with his English roots originating from Hackney in London and Welsh roots from Bridgend.

While attending college, Susan Tomlin crossed paths with Chris Sarandon, a Greek-American student, and the two tied the knot on September 16, 1967.
