Hailey Bieber had heart surgery after ‘scary’ blood clot caused mini stroke

Hailey Bieber has undergone heart surgery after suffering a ‘mini-stroke’ last month.

The model, 25, revealed that she recently underwent a patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure procedure to repair a hole in her heart.

“It went really well…I’m recovering really well, really fast,” she said in a new YouTube video called “telling my story.”

After being rushed to a Palm Springs-area hospital last month with symptoms resembling a stroke, Bieber discovered she had a blood clot that traveled to her brain and caused transient ischemic attack (TIA).

However, doctors could not figure out how the blood clot got there.

“When I went to UCLA, we did more extensive testing…to find a PFO,” she explained in the video, describing a PFO as “a flap between the right and left heart chambers.”

“Usually at birth it’s supposed to close on its own,” she added, noting that hers didn’t close.

“They found out I had a fifth grade, which is the highest grade you can get. Mine was quite large. What usually happens is that the heart filters the blood clot to the lungs and the lungs absorb it because they are so big and can handle it.

However, the blood clot “leaked out through the hole in my heart and traveled to my brain and that’s why I suffered a [mini stroke].”

Justin Bieber’s wife said she was “just grateful they found him”, and his doctors performed a procedure in which they use “a button” to close the flap in the heart.

“I’m really relieved to be able to get out of this really scary situation and live my life,” she said.

Justin, 28, has previously been candid about his health scare, describing the situation as “really scary”.

“Most of you probably know or have seen the news about my wife…but she’s fine, she’s good, she’s strong,” the ‘Peaches’ singer said during his concert in Denver, Qu he then posted on Instagram.

“But it’s been scary, you know, it’s been really scary,” he added. “But I know for a fact that God has it in the palm of his hands, and that’s a good thing.”
