Aubrey's coaching career began at Grand Blanc High School. Aubrey served primarily with the defensive backs and worked as a special needs teacher and behavior specialist in the Flint Community School District.
Aubrey was then hired as a graduate assistant at the University of Michigan and served primarily with the defensive backs. The defense led the Big Ten with 29 takeaways and allowed just 12 touchdown passes and also 20 fumble recoveries, tied for first in the FBS.

The Los Angeles Rams hired Oubre after the 2016 season to work as the cornerbacks coach, where he served closely with defensive coordinator Wade Phillips in implementing the defensive scheme in Los Angeles. On January 28, 2021, Aubrey was hired as the defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator by the Detroit Lions.
On October 31, 2022, Aubrey was signed to the Lions. The Green Bay Packers tapped Aubrey as an offensive consultant on November 14, 2022, after being fired by the Lions, to provide defensive opinions to coach Matt LaFleur. Aubrey was hired as the game coordinator and defensive coach by the Los Angeles Rams on February 16, 2023.
