Stevenson was selected by the New England Patriots in the fourth round, 120th overall, of the 2021 NFL Draft. On March 19, 2021, he signed a four-year rookie contract with New England. After being used sparingly in the first eight games of the season, he had a breakout game against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9 with 106 all-purpose yards, before leaving the game with a concussion, he had a 41-yard reception on a short out-pattern that set up a touchdown Patriots.
The following week, he was named the starter against the Cleveland Browns, with regular starter Damien Harris out due to a concussion suffered the previous week. He gained 100 yards on the ground and scored two touchdowns while also receiving for 14 yards. . As New England won 45-7, he scored two touchdowns on 100 yards rushing and added 14 receiving yards. He led the team in rushing again in Week 11 against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football, sharing carries with starter Damien Harris and finishing with 69 yards on 12 carries in a 25-0 win.
He remained the team’s No. 2 running back behind starter Harris, gaining 46 yards on 9 carries in a Week 13 win over the Titans and carrying most of the load in a tough Week 14 win over the Bills in which only the Patriots threw the ball three times, amassing 78 yards on 24 carries.
