In December 2019, it was announced that Sylvia would co-host Today Extra replacing Sonia Kruger. She currently serves as co-host of Today Extra with David Campbell.

Jeffries began reporting lifestyle stories in 2008 on the Queensland program Extra, before returning to the newsroom in 2009. Sylvia was appointed weekend weather presenter in 2011 at Nine News Queensland.

While there, Sylvia reported on many news stories as a reporter and weather anchor. This included flooding in Grantham, Ipswich, Brisbane and Central Queensland.

He also traveled to Tully to report on the damage caused by Cyclone Yasi. Jeffries moved to Sydney to join Today in January 2012 as a reporter in New South Wales.
