Steve Villanueva is an American meteorologist who works as a morning weather anchor for WPTV News based in southern Palm Beach County. He joined WPTV’s Weather Alert team in 2016 after completing a three-year stint at WNBC News based in greater New York City. Villanueva also worked as a weekend meteorologist for WPIX News throughout 2012. He is known for tracking various hurricanes across the country, winter storms, blizzards and heavy rains during different seasons.
Villanueva was born and raised in Queens, New York to a middle-class Hispanic family. His parents moved to New York from Argentina before he was born. Steve grew up as a very smart kid who always wanted to be a meteorologist since he was in high school. Villanueva finished high school in his hometown. From there, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Mississippi State University through a distance learning program in the school’s broadcast meteorology department. Steve began his career as an on-air meteorologist in 2009 working regularly on weekends for an NBC affiliate called WRC NBC 4 News based in Washington DC. Metro area.
