Roxanne Vargas is an American Emmy Award-winning anchor currently working for NBC 6 since joining the News team in May 2006. However, Vargas has been part of NBC 6 News since 2003. In 2018, she was voted as “Best TV News Anchor” and “Best TV Anchor” in 2012 by the Miami New Times.
Roxanne has over a decade of extensive on-air news coverage in her hometown of South Florida, including consumer, health and entertainment features reporting. It is also known for its extensive coverage of local and national breaking news.
Roxanne was born and raised in South Florida. She received her BA in Broadcast Journalism from Florida International University. Vargas has a great passion for reporting and storytelling in the community she grew up in.

Vargas currently co-anchors NBC 6 News weekday mornings alongside Angie Lassman, Adam Berg, Sheli Muniz and traffic reporter Kristin Sanchez. Additionally, she contributes to NBC sister station WSCV Telemundo 51 reporting in Spanish. Roxanne also hosts a similar show in Spanish, Acceso Total, on Telemundo 51.
Previously, Vargas was on NBC 6 News at 5 a.m., covering breaking and national news, entertainment, health and consumer news. She is also a published author, co-authoring the book 100 Things To Do in Miami Before You Die (2014) with Maruchi Mendez.
Vargas is a two-time Emmy Award-winning journalist for her reporting and hosting on NBC. She has been recognized by Save and The Aqua Foundation for Women to name just a few. Vargas is also a three-time Flamingo Award winner and was honored with the Key to the City of Miami Beach when she served as the Allied Grand Marshall during Miami Beach Gay Pride 2018 for her support as a friend to the LGBTQ community.
In 2014, Vargas joined an elite group of women around the world including Demi Moore, Maria Shriver and Brooke Shields. Through the connection, she joined renowned fashion designer Donna Karan’s Women Who Inspire program. She was honored with a community leadership award by the Girls Scouts of Southeast Florida and served on their board of directors.
