In an interview, actress Naomi Scott who played Princess Jasmine in the 2019 live-action adaptation of “Aladdin” shared that she would love to play the role of a Disney villain.
Despite the fact that she really liked playing Jasmine, she expressed interest in playing a character like Cruella De Vil, despite not being a particularly nice person.
Reflecting on her time on set, Naomi recalled a particularly awkward moment when she first met Will Smith, who played the Genie in “Aladdin.” She had just gotten out of the shower and had a towel over her head, with no makeup on, when she saw him running around the gym where they were. In an attempt to get his attention, she shouted his name, only to realize that she had a long way to go to reach him.
She feared the encounter would be awkward, as he had no idea who she was and only saw a random girl with a towel over her head approaching him. But when she finally came to him and introduced herself as Jasmine, he was thrilled to meet her.
Naomi fondly recalled other surreal moments on set, such as when she saw Will Smith and director Guy Ritchie running together on a treadmill. Even at the premiere, she couldn’t believe she was part of such an iconic film. She felt incredibly grateful for the experience and considered herself blessed to have been a part of it.
