Kirsten Dunst Says She ‘Felt Overwhelmed’ Filming Her First Nak3d Scene in ‘Marie Antoinette’

Kirsten Dunst told Jamie Dornan on Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series that she “felt overwhelmed” while filming her n-de scenes for “Marie Antoinette.”

The couple starred in the biographical drama film about the famous historical monarch, directed by Sofia Coppola. Dunst played the lead role, Antoinette, while Dornan played Swedish Count Axel von Fersen who ends up in a sexual relationship with Antoinette in the film.

Reflecting on filming the 2006 film in the Variety interview, Dornan said he was nervous because it was his first film role.

To that, Dunst replied, “I was nervous too, Jamie. And all of our stuff was kissing and I wasn’t comfortable with that. It’s never that comfortable, so I I was actually very nervous too.”

Dunst continued, “I think the first time I even showed my boobs was with Sofia. She never used the plug, and I don’t even think you were there. I think someone ‘one just pulled me down. But there were a lot of things where I felt overwhelmed too.”

Dornan later said he had no idea Dunst felt this while filming the drama.

“God, that’s crazy to know,” he said. “I mean, you handled the situation well. I thought you were in control.” To this, Dunst said she felt she had to keep her cool for Dornan’s sake.

Dunst and Dornan also revealed that Coppola made sure the first time they met was during the scene where their characters first meet.

The couple are now up for upcoming Oscar nominations, Dornan for their lead role in ‘Belfast’ and Dunst for their supporting role in ‘Power of The Dog’. Dunst, who has been acting since she was a child, recently reflected on her film career in interviews. In an interview with Vanity Fair in November, Dunst (then 11) revealed that she felt “very weird” kissing Brad Pitt (then in his 30s) for the 1994 film “Interview with the Vampire.”

“At that time I was a little girl and he was like a brother to me,” Dunst said. “And it was very weird even though it was a kiss. I just wasn’t into it.”

Last month, she told W magazine she was “proud” of her famous upside-down kiss with Tobey Maguire for “Spider-Man.”
