Biography of John Telich
John Telich is an American journalist who currently works as a sports anchor for Fox 8 on weeknights and produces a variety of features in addition to serving as a veteran correspondent on many key events. In addition, he faces physically demanding missions, such as flying with the Navy’s Blue Angles.
Before joining his current station as sports anchor in September 1980, he was assistant sports director for WIVB-TV in Buffalo, New York. A graduate of Euclid High and Ashland College, John began his career in Ashland, Ohio in 1972.
An 11-time Emmy Award winner, he has won numerous awards for his coverage of Cleveland sports, both professional and high school. His features have been honored by UPI, AP and The Press Club of Cleveland. In 2007, he was named to the Hall of Fame by the Cleveland Broadcasters Association. After that, he won the Chuck Heaton Award from the Cleveland Press Club.
A native of Euclid, John has completed over 100 triathlons over the past 27 years, including three Ironman Distance events.
