Jamie Owen Biography
Jamie Owen is a renowned Welsh journalist, broadcaster and author. He currently works as a presenter for the Sunday program on BBC Radio Wales. Previously, Owen served as a presenter for BBC Wales Today, CGTN and TRT World. Additionally, he was born and raised in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire and attended school at Pennar High School. Later, he registered at Pembroke Dock. Christ College, Brecon before joining Cardiff University.
Shortly after University, Owen was employed by BBS Radio 3 as a newsreader and presenter. He later moved to join BBS Radio 4 and while there was responsible for delivering the Shipping Forecast. In the 1990s, he worked as a presenter for BBC One and BBC Two Wales. After three years, Jamie moved on and has been working as the main presenter on BBC Wales’ flagship news programme, BBC Wales Today ever since. Apart from this, he has also worked as a presenter for various channels such as BBC Breakfast News, BBC Radio 4’s Shipping Forecast and Songs of Praise.
In 2018, he joined the international television station TRT World and worked as a new presenter. A year later, she left the station and joined CGTN Network as an anchor. The channel broadcasts to 100 million homes worldwide and has offices in London, Washington and Beijing. In addition, he has been with the BBC Network for over 28 years.
As an author, Jamie has only published six books including ‘Magic Harbours’, ‘Wales Travels’, ‘A Year in Pembrokeshire’ and ‘Magic Islands’ among others. In 2022 it won first prize at the 2022 CMG Annual Awards held on 23 April 2023, in the documentary category.
