James Merritt is an American senior pastor and founder of Cross Pointe Church and the host of Touching Lives broadcast ministry. Merritt was saved when he was 9 years old and entered the ministry in 1973. From 2000 to 2002, Merritt served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention.
After he was elected president, many people joined, and currently, over 15.8 million people have joined and there are more than 40000 places of worship in the United States.
