Exactly How Margot Robbie Got Her Butt and Abs in Shape for ‘Suicide Squad’

Margot Robbie’s latest film – ‘Suicide Squad,’ which hit theaters today and also stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Viola Davis and Cara Delevingne – has forced her to get in even better shape than she wasn’t already. (We too, I wondered how that was possible.)

In it, Robbie plays an unhinged supervillain named Harley Quinn, and to look the part, People reports that she trained three hours a day, every day, for three weeks while filming the film. . Workouts included Pilates, ballet, jump rope and rebounder to sculpt and tone the actress’ body without bulking it up.

Coach Andie Hecker helped Robbie prepare for the role and said she was a “total trooper”. “There’s a scene in ‘Suicide Squad’ where she’s changing clothes in front of a bunch of guys, so her abs had to be spotless,” Hecker explains. “And in those little shorts that Harley wears, her ass was constantly on display.”

Hecker adds that she had Robbie do a lot of heavy spiral pull-ups connected to resistance pulleys and spiral lifts with heavy ankle weights to “build and lift the butt,” as well as outer thigh work and glute “to pull those muscles and create a nice line from the waist to the top of the thigh.”

Damn, we’re tired just reading about it. Luckily, now that the movie is over, Robbie can get back to his normal totally chill routine of working out for an hour a day for five days a week.
