Eden Checkol Biography
Eden Checkol is an Ethiopian American anchor and reporter most recently working at WPLG and WSFL as an evening news anchor in Miami, Florida. She joined the station in April 2021. Previously, she worked as an anchor and morning news reporter at WISN 12 News based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Additionally, prior to joining WISN 12 News, she served for two years as a reporter and anchor in 2017 at WISC-TV, Madison.
Checkol attended Roseville Area High School, where she graduated with her high school diploma. He immediately enrolled at the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and journalism. She also has a minor in business administration from the same university.
Eden joined WPLG and WSFL in April 2021. She serves as news anchor at 10 p.m. at the station located in Miami. Prior to joining the station, he served as anchor of the week on WISN 12 News, at 4:30 a.m. “This Morning” as well as on 12 News at 11 a.m. in many news bulletins.
In addition, Checkol also served as a reporter and anchor at WISC-TV, a CBS affiliate for a period of two years. It covered a wide range of stories, including human interest features and breaking news.
Checkol began her career in Duluth, Minnesota at KBJR 6 and Range 11/CBS KDLH as a supplemental anchor and reporter. Her interest in journalism started when she was a teenager as she was inspired by her father who was a journalism professor.
