Biography of Dasha Zhukova
Dasha Zhukova is a Russian-American art collector, entrepreneur, magazine editor, and socialite. She is the founder of Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and Garage Magazine.
Zhukova attended a Jewish day school in California and later joined a Jewish college which was her first school in the US and attended it for a period of three years. In 1999 he attended Pacific Hills School. In addition, he graduated with honors from University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Slavic studies and philology. After becoming involved with Roman Abramovich, she returned to Moscow and later moved to London, where she enrolled at London’s College of Naturopathic Medicine but did not complete the program.
In 2006, Dasha co-founded the fashion label Kova & T where she currently sits on the boards of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Shed. Later, in 2008, he founded the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Moscow, a non-profit organization that helps promote contemporary art and culture in Russia and abroad.
In February 2009, Dasha was happily chosen as the editor-in-chief of Pop fashion magazine. However, in 2010, he resigned from the post after three incidents. As editor-in-chief of Garage magazine, a bimonthly print publication focusing on the collaboration between contemporary art and fashion. Since then he has collaborated with the world’s most famous creators, such as Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Nick Knight, Marc Jacobs and Richard Prince, among others. In addition, he is a founding member of the Culture Shed in New York.
