Alan Levin, an American author and radio broadcaster from Rochester, New York, goes by the nickname Brother Wease. He currently works at WHTK AM 1280, a sports radio station and WAIO “Radio 95.1” in Rochester, a classic rock station.

Wease adopted the stage name “Wease” from his nickname “Weasel” at school. He is known to reveal much of his personal life with some of his listeners. He previously worked as an Emcee for Woodstock ’94 and Woodstock ’99.

Before that he worked as a mail carrier, concert promoter and co-owner of Physical Graffiti, a tattoo parlor in Rochester. Wease founded the Wease Cares Children’s Fund in 1997 to raise funds for underprivileged children.

Brother Wease Career

In 1985, Wease began his radio career as a late night host at 96.5 WCMF-FM. Soon after, he moved to the morning show, where his show, “The Brother Wease Morning Circus,” was one of the most popular in the Rochester market. Wease also broadcast a weekly music show on Saturdays called “Radio Free Wease”.

He was forced out after his contract with that show and the station ended in January 2008. His co-hosts stayed on and took over the show, renaming it “The Break Room”. He landed a job as a sales executive at Clear Channel Communications shortly after leaving WCMF.

It returned to the WFXF “95.1 THE FOX” airwaves on November 17, 2008, with a new cast including co-host Lilly Hisenaj, Rochester stand-up comedian Jamie Lissow and morning show executive producer Anthony Caiazzo. This new incarnation is referred to as “The Wease Show”.

In December 2006, he broadcast a three-hour music program on XM Satellite Radio’s Virus channel. In October 2021, Wease was honored with induction into the Radio Hall of Fame in Chicago. He joined the esteemed group of local and regional dignitaries.
