Ben is also a member of the American Society of Composers, the National Weather Service, and the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts. In 2009, he joined the KGMB9 news team. When Ben was in third grade, his family didn’t have a newspaper subscription.
In his freshman year, he was appointed news director of the student radio station. He also worked as news director for a small market radio station in Portland. He learned a lot from the experience. There he met former presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter and became involved in theater and music.
After a dozen years away, he returned to Hawaii and worked in radio until an opportunity arose to become a television weather anchor. He debated for three days about accepting the offer and a good friend advised him that it would be an opportunity to spread science. So he accepted, and the opportunity also gave him the opportunity to meet and perform with some of the best local musicians. In addition, Ben met even more fascinating people, visited places that few visit, learned new things and shared his experiences with his viewers.
