Alden German biography
Alden German is an American meteorologist who currently works as a meteorologist at WHAS11 since joining the station in October 2019. Growing up, he was afraid of storms but loved snow because, during the 2003 tornado outbreak, a A tornado ripped through Kansas City where his home was located. Fortunately, his house was spared from the walnuts, and thus his fear of storms was fixed.
He gradually realized that these people on TV seemed to know what was going to happen in the near future and this influenced his passion to become a meteorologist. After that, he started watching the news to see what the weather was going to be like and this increased his interest in broadcasting as well.
He is a proud graduate of the University of Kansas where he graduated with a Minor in Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science. While at the university, he helped build a weather department for KUJH-TV, a student-run television station. In addition, he had the opportunity to make and complete predictions for a super-local cable station, serving Lawrence and nearby small towns.
After graduation, he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he worked for two and a half years for an ABC affiliate television station, KLKN. He held the positions of reporter and meteorologist. His time here saw him experience some catastrophic weather, including the March 2019 floods and one of the snowiest winters on record, which he covered firsthand.
When he is off duty, he enjoys reading and running. You can also find him working on his fitness at the gym or exploring Kentucky.
