Jimmy Fortune is an American country music singer from Nelson County, Virginia, United States of America. Fortune sang tenor for the Statler Brothers for 21 years and eventually wrote the song Elizabeth for the group. After retiring from the group, Fortune continues to perform as a solo artist.
He started his career with a group, the Statler Brothers in 1982. In the group, he had many privileges, including writing some of the group’s songs. Some of the most iconic songs Jimmy wrote are: “Elizabeth”, “Too Much on My Heart” and “My Only Love”.
Fortune has spent 21 years of his life touring, singing and performing with his fellow crew members. The Statler brothers; Don, Phil and Harold retired in 2002. Jimmy later began his solo shows with programs in the US and Canada. To date, Fortune is doing well with his solo career and has even recorded a number of projects in Nashville.
2015 saw the release of Hits & Hymns produced by Ben Isaacs. The album reached the top 10 on Billboard’s Top Country Album Chart. Later, the DVD release of a TV special, “Jimmy Fortune: Hits & Hymns,” featuring Bill Gaither, went to No. 1 on the Billboard Music Video chart.
