Ty Burrell Biography
Ty Burrell is an American actor and comedian known for his role as Phil Dunphy on ABC’s Modern Family. His role earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Tye even received four consecutive Screen Guild Awards for Best Actor in 2013 for his role in Modern Family. He also gained more recognition and fame after starring in off-Broadway shows such as Macveth and Burn This. Burrell’s other famous roles are in Out of Practice, Down in the Valley, Rough Night and Back To You.
Burrell was born and raised in Grants Pass Oregon as the son of a teacher. He also grew up as the eldest child in a family of two children. Therefore, Ty has a younger brother. He then attended and graduated from Hidden Valley High School in Gran Pass. Burrell then enrolled at the University of Oregon and worked as a bartender at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival to pay his bills.
Burrell then transferred to Southern Oregon University where he graduated with a BA in Theater Arts in 1993. Ty then continued his studies at Penn State University where he graduated with his MFA in Theater Arts. Together he became a member of the Theater 100 company Keegan Michael Key after graduating from Penn State University.

Tai made his acting debut starring in a 2001 film called Evolution and another thriller called Black Hawk Down. In 2004, he took the lead role in the remake of Dawn of the Dead. This was also the time when he played his famous Broadway roles in, Macbeth, Burn This, and another off-broadway film called The Blue Demon.
Burrell then landed his first major role as the New Jersey District Attorney for the Law & Order Special Victims Unit. He then appeared in Out of Practice until 2009.
