Biography of Ted Haggard
Ted Haggard is a famous American pastor, author and public speaker who is the founder of St. James Church in Colorado Springs , Colorado. Haggard is also the Director of Church Planting for the River Conference of the Free Methodist Church and the founder and coordinator of the Redeemer Network of Churches.
Born and raised in Yorktown, Indiana, United States, Ted attended Oral Roberts University, a Christian University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Later, she graduated in 1978 with a major in telecommunications and a minor in journalism.
Haggard then studied graduate-level counseling at the University of Phoenix, receiving an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Colorado Christian University.
After marrying his wife Gayle in 1978, the two founded their first church, New Life Church. This facility has experienced 22 consecutive years of double-digit growth through conversions. They saw it grow from 20 people meeting in their basement to 14,000 people meeting on a $60 million campus.
Their second church came later, St. James. He also served as president of the 30 million-member National Association of Evangelicals from 2003-2006.

During these years, Ted often represented evangelism in the media along with other world leaders. In addition, he built the World Prayer Center and worldprayerteam.org. which was the largest network of praying believers in the world.
He even founded the Association of Life-Giving Churches, which later merged with the Association of Associated Churches in the year 2006. In 2006, Haggard stepped down from all leadership positions for a period of healing and rehabilitation.
