Sharyn Alfonsi is an American journalist currently working as a correspondent for 60 Minutes. Most notably, she made her first appearance on 60 Minutes on March 1, 2015. Alfonsi attended high school in McLean, Virginia. Later, he graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi at Oxford in 1994, where he was a James Love Scholar.
After graduation, she began her career at a local news station at KHbs-KHOG-TV in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1995. Alfonsi then moved to WVEC-TV in Norfolk, Virginia, KIRO-TV in Seattle, Washington and later at WBZ -TV in Boston, MA. He was then hired by Dan Rather at CBS News in 2002. However, he left the station in 2008 to work for ABC News.
However, he returned to CBS in 2011, to work for 60 Minutes Sports, which aired on Showtime. In 2015, she made her 60 Minutes debut with an investigative story on fraud after Hurricane Sandy, which led to a congressional investigation and earned her a Writers Guild Award.

He appeared on 60 Minutes several times in the 2016-2017 season, including an investigative piece on phone hacking that showed how hackers could easily access a congressman’s phone. Sharyn also appeared on the season premiere of 60 Minutes with a revealing interview with Paul McCartney in 2018, which attracted more than 13 million viewers.
During her career, she has received many awards and nominations. She received two Emmy Awards in 2019 for her reporting after the Parkland High School shooting. Alfonsi made international headlines in 2020 when she was the first reporter to take pictures of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein’s prison cell and his autopsy photos aired on 60 Minutes.
Additionally, in 2020, Sharyn and her producers won the prestigious DuPont-Columbia University Journalism Award for their reporting from the US/Mexico border. During her acceptance speech, Alphonse dedicated the award to everyone who called her a “pain in the ass.”
