She had participated in the Lux-Channel Photo Beauty Pageant competition and was on the top 5 list in 2003. Sharmin has appeared in several TV series in leading roles like Chhoto Bou, Joley Bheja Rong, Shunyota, Shefali, Hoolsthool, Jolkumari, Twin Village, Ghunpokam, Gyanigonjer Ponditera, Julie Beautiful and Prem Noi.
