Biography of Mike Jackson
Mike Jackson is an American news anchor currently working for NBC4 since 1994. He has been in the broadcasting career for over 40 years, with his first job coming in his hometown of Charleston, WV at radio station WCHS- A.M.
Jackson is a proud graduate of it West Virginia State College with an Associate Arts degree in Media. Mike’s first television career was at WOAY-TV in Oak Hill, WV, where he anchored the late night news. He also worked as a sports reporter at WCHS-TV in Charleston, before working in Columbus for the first time with the local ABC affiliate.
In addition, Jackson served as business manager and announcer for WBES-FM in Charleston, W.Va. News director at WOAY-TV in Oak Hill, WV, and served as evening anchor at NewsChannel 8 in Washington, DC before returning to Columbus.
He received his first first place award for reporting from the National Association of Black Journalists in 1993 in Washington, DC Mike also received our local Emmy nominations for reporting and two second place awards for reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists. Notably, he was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by The Tribute to African American Committee.
Mike has covered every presidential race since he was old enough to vote.

Mike’s first job before going into journalism was digging sewers and learning how to process raw sewage in the summers during high school. This encouraged him to study harder in school. His focus is on recovery after a massive stroke in January 2019.
