Michael Cogdill is an American Journalist currently working as a news anchor at WFAA-TV ABC in Dallas, Texas since joining the station in 1989. Throughout her career, she has received 30 Emmys and a National Edward R. Murrow.
Cogdill graduated from North Buncombe High School in Weaverville, North Carolina in 1979. She later graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with an emphasis in liberal arts from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 1984. Two Weeks After Graduation out of college, he began his career in television working at WECT, the NBC affiliate in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Cogdill soon moved to WWAY, Wilmington’s ABC station, and later migrated to CBS-aligned WRDW-TV in Augusta, Georgia. He eventually landed at Greenville, South Carolina station WYFF in 1989, where he cemented his place as the most decorated human host in South Carolina television history.
He first came to prominence when he reported the story of Susan Smith, a Union woman from South Carolina who was convicted of murdering her two young sons in 1994. In addition to his journalism career, he is also an author. He is the author of She-Rain, a novel set in rural western North Carolina in the 1920s.
