Maddie Gardner is an American corporate communications and journalist known for her work as a news anchor and reporter for North Carolina-based WMFY News and WBTV News. She is also a former cheerleader who was recognized as an All-Star cheerleader. Maddie was the point guard for the Senior Large All Girls Level 5 competitive cheerleading team. She also helped the team win the Cheerleading Worlds in 2010 and 2012.
Gardner was born and raised in northern Mount Airy, North Carolina. She grew up as a child of many stripes who started dance and cheerleading lessons at a very young age. Maddie began competing in Cheer Extreme Allstars in Kernersville at the age of seven. She attended and graduated from Mount Airy High School where she was also an active member of the school’s cheerleading team. Maddie then enrolled at the University of North Carolina and continued her talent as a cheerleader. She was also a sister of the Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity at the University. Gardner graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication from the University of North Carolina.

In 2011, CNN decided to follow the Fire level of Cheer Extreme with Maddie as a guest. At Match 20212, Gardner was able to launch the line of Fancy Face cosmetics. She then joined WMFY News as a news anchor and content producer for nearly a decade before leaving to join WBTV. Gardner left her career as a journalist to become a corporate communicator.
