John Torode is an Australian-British celebrity chef and television presenter who gained national recognition for his work at the Conran Group restaurants. He also starred in ITV’s This Morning and the acclaimed BBC One revival of MasterChef in 2005. Torode gained further recognition for writing his own series of Cookbooks and recipes, including Master Chef Judge Gregg Wallace.
Torode was born in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia but grew up around MMaitland and Edithvale, Melbourne. He grew up as the last born in a family of three boys in Melbourne. He was raised by his father after the sudden death of his mother at the age of four. After his mother’s death, John, his siblings and his father moved to Matland to live with their grandmother, who taught him how to cook different recipes in his early teenage years. He then began his career first as a cook working at Le Coq Au Vin restaurant in Aspendale at the age of fifteen.
