Georges Mikautadze was born on October 31, 2000 in Lyon, France, to Georgian parents. He is of French and Georgian nationality.

Georges Mikautadze grew up in a football-loving family in Lyon. He showed his passion for the sport from a young age and joined local youth clubs to showcase his talents.

Mikautadze started his football journey at a young age, playing for local youth clubs in Lyon. Later, after noticing his talents, he joined the training center of Olympique Lyonnais, one of the most prestigious football clubs in France.

Mikautadze’s first contract

In 2018, Mikautadze signed his first professional contract with FC Metz. He first played in the Metz reserve team, where he demonstrated his scoring skills.

Ready in Seraing

To gain more first-team experience, Mikautadze was loaned to Belgian club RFC Seraing in 2020. His time at Seraing was very productive, as he became one of the top scorers in the Belgian second division. His impressive form helped Seraing gain promotion to the Belgian Pro League.

Back at FC Metz

Mikautadze’s performances in Belgium did not go unnoticed and he attracted interest from several European clubs. After his loan ended, he returned to FC Metz, where he continued to develop as a key player.

Eredivisie side Ajax announced that they had signed Mikautadze to a five-year contract on 30 August 2023. The team paid €16 million for him, but the fee could rise to €19 million. Mikautadze has played nine games for Ajax but has not scored a goal.

On 4 January 2024, Mikautadze was loaned to Metz from Ajax until the end of the 2023–24 season. The contract included a purchase option for Metz for around €10 million.

National team career

Georges Mikautadze has represented France and Georgia at youth level. Although he was born in France, he chose to represent Georgia at senior level, making his debut for the Georgian national team in March 2021.

On 18 June 2024, he scored his country’s first goal in European competition, equalising against Turkey in a 3–1 loss. Four days later, he scored a penalty in a 1–1 draw against the Czech Republic.

He also scored another penalty on 26 June 2024 in a 2–0 win over Portugal, helping his country qualify for the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams.
