Doug Marcaida is a Filipino-American martial artist, weapons expert and knife designer. However, he gained fame for his role as a judge on the History Channel show Forged in Fire. He is also skilled and famous for his incredible interpretation of Southeastern martial arts style developing his own style called Marcaida Kali 20 years ago.
Known for its popular motto, KEAl (Keep Everyone Alive) attended Colegio San Agustin in Makati, Philippines. He also went to Aquinas High School (a private school) in Bronx, New York and also graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School. However, he is a US Army veteran who served in the US Air Force for about 8 years. Later, he pursued a career as a Respiratory Therapist for two decades.
However, he has traveled throughout the United States and the world teaching first responders and military personnel the fundamentals of martial art (Filipino Combat Based Martial Art (FMA). Doug has also worked with the United States Recon Marines, the Belgian Special Police and the Spetsnaz Alpha unit.
Doug has recently partnered with 5.11 Tactical as a brand ambassador and knife designer ready to release the DM Talon series consisting of a fixed and folding knife. Withal has also had collaborations with KBar Knives, Bastinelli Creations, Max Venom, Fox Knives and Jason Knight Knives. He had been associated with Edge Impact Weapons Specialist since 1990.
