Dan Stevens is a well-known British actor and writer. He gained international exposure as Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey. He appeared in The Guest, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, and Beauty and the Beast.

From 2010 to 2012, he gained international fame as Matthew Crawley in the popular ITV period drama Downton Abbey. He played Matthew, a middle distant cousin of the Crawleys who inherits the property in the first episode and quickly moves to Downton. In the series, he struggles to reconcile the conventional, aristocratic culture of Downton Abbey with his middle-class background.
In 2021, he played Tom, a robot in the German-language sci-fi romance I Am Your Man. Dr. Alma Felser, an archaeologist, comes to a dance club and is introduced to Tom by an employee. Alma then tests Tom on a difficult math problem and trivia about his favorite poem, and he answers effortlessly.
Stevens starred as The Beast and the Prince in the 2017 live-action adaptation of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. He portrays a spoiled prince who turns into an ugly beast as punishment for his cold and selfish behavior. To return to his former self, the Beast must win the affection of Belle, a lovely young woman he imprisons in his castle.
In 2022, he played John Dean in the American political thriller limited series Gaslit for eight episodes. He plays John Dean, a former attorney who served as White House Counsel to US President Richard Nixon. The film tells the story of the Watergate crisis through the lives of many people who were outside of it.
