In 1977, Corey began his career in Davenport, Iowa. McFerrin has also worked as a sportscaster in New Orleans, Quincy, Atlanta and Illinois. While in Atlanta, he won an Emmy for Outstanding Georgia State News Anchor in 1984. McFerrin was the lead sports anchor at WABC-TV in New York for seven years before returning to Chicago. From 1984 to 1991 he worked there.
McFerrin worked as a college football play-by-play announcer for ABC Sports in New York. He also worked as a reporter for the sports anthology show Wide World of Sports. McFerrin returned to his hometown of Chicago in 1991 to resume his work as a sports anchor at WBBM-TV. He then moved to Fox 32 in 1995, where he is now co-anchor. From Sunday to Thursday, McFerrin co-presents the 5.00pm newscasts. and at 9.00 p.m.
He previously worked as a sports anchor for FOX Chicago News at Nine. McFerrin also co-hosted The Final Word, a Sunday night sports show, and Fox Kickoff Sunday, the Bears pregame show. Additionally, during his sixteen years at FOX 32 Chicago, he received five Emmy nominations. McFerrin also serves on the Butler University Board of Trustees.
