In her childhood, she was very obsessed with dance and studied dance in different schools. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with scoliosis and had to give up her dream of becoming a dancer.
She founded the Connecticut Scoliosis Association in her first year at Yale University.
She launched a book called Scoliosis: Ascending the Curve in 1999 that describes her experiences with the disease.
