Megan Newquist is an Emmy Award-winning American journalist who currently appears as a morning and midday news anchor on KSTP Channel 7 News and its sister station. Before joining KSTP News, she landed her first job at KHSL News in Redding where she spent nearly five years. He then worked at WTVW News in Lexington Kentucky for nearly three years before joining KTSP in late 2010.
Newquist was born and raised in the upscale suburbs of Sacramento, California. He grew up as a very active child who developed a passion for journalism at a very young age. She attended a public high school located in her hometown. Megan then enrolled at California State University where she graduated with a BA in Mass Communication and Journalism.
Megan began her career working as a news anchor and desk reporter at KHSL News in Redding, California. It covered a wide range of news such as the terrible hurricanes of the early 2000s, floods and other political updates. Eventually, Megan left KHSL News and moved to Lexington, Kentucky where she worked as an evening news anchor. She spent five years providing the latest news updates for Kentuckians for five years until her official departure in 2009. The following year, Newquist joined LKSTP as a field reporter.
Megan then stepped up to lead morning news anchor and midday reporter. During her free time, Megan enjoys volunteering at NGO institutions that help underprivileged children and spending time with her family. To date, Megan has won several Emmy Awards for her work and a National Edward R. Murrow Award for Outstanding News Coverage at KSTP News.
